Alan Anglyn
Author of Historical Fiction
Alan Anglyn is a writer with a past as colorful as the stories he tells. Rooted in rural Georgia and now based in eastern Kansas, he carries his Southern sensibility into Midwestern life, blending grit, humor, and heart in everything he writes.
My Story
My passions include writing, hiking, playing guitar, growing blueberries, beekeeping, and daily exercise—but my curiosity stretches far beyond hobbies. I earned my degree from Georgia Tech during a recession, launching me into a patchwork of professions that shaped my worldview. I’ve been an air traffic controller, a chimney sweep, a cotton mill worker (with glorious titles like hopper and slubber), a door-to-door insurance salesman, a budget motel night auditor, a gas station attendant, and a deckhand on an oyster boat. Eventually, I followed in my father’s footsteps and built a career in telecommunications.
These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the lives people lead and the stories they carry. Today, I draw on that rich tapestry to craft fiction and poetry that resonate with emotional truth, mythic undertones, and a touch of Southern mischief.
